Welcome to St Clare's School

St Clare's School is a day school operating within normal school hours. It provides a caring school environment for girls who find the normal school situation particularly difficult.

What does St Clare's Provide?

  • Individual instruction according to the student's academic level from Year 8 to Year 12
  • An incentive system to improve classroom behaviour and reduce truancy
  • Individual counselling by a social worker or school counsellor.
  • Home visits, help and guidance to parents and care-givers
  • Developing the school as a workplace and work experience
  • Group work to develop social skills, self esteem, assertiveness, communication skills, personal responsibility and values clarification
  • Ongoing regular evaluation and review of the student's progress
  • Help with transport in getting to and from school
  • After care support and guidance for those who need it

Who can be enrolled?

Girls of secondary school age from any part of the metropolitan area are eligible to attend St Clare's if they are experiencing school related difficulties.

These can result from:

  • habitual truancy
  • unsatisfactory progress at school
  • constant changes of school
  • poor self esteem
  • lack of confidence
  • difficulty in establishing relationships with peers
  • frequent problems with teachers and authority
  • repeated suspensions
  • substance abuse
  • psychological or psychiatric problems
